Household refill concentrate
A fictional consumer goods team wants to evaluate whether an eco-friendly cleaning refill concentrate concept resonates with household cleaning buyers and which packaging format description is preferred prior to committing to tooling and visual design. Respondents review a neutral concept description followed by two text-based pack alternatives.
Research scenario overview
| Parameter | Specification |
|---|---|
| Sector & Domain | Household Cleaning & Sustainable Consumer Products |
| Methodology | Online CAWI concept evaluation |
| Target Universe | Adults aged 18+ who share responsibility for purchasing household cleaning products and bought cleaning products in the past 3 months. |
| Sample Size | Target 400 completed interviews with age and settlement quotas. |
| Length of Interview (LOI) | Estimated 10–15 minutes median duration including concept exposure and verbatim diagnostics. |
| Key Measures | Cleaner types purchased, refill experience, concept comprehension, unpriced appeal, relevance, perceived benefits, purchase barriers, open-ended diagnostic verbatims, pack alternative preference, and price acceptance at £9. |
Methodological and analysis rules
- Concept screening rigor: The survey evaluates text-based concept appeal and diagnostic attributes without asserting unsubstantiated environmental or efficacy claims.
- Unpriced vs. priced intention: Overall appeal and relevance are gathered prior to introducing pricing. Purchase intention is then measured at a specific test price point (£9 for a starter kit).
- Pack alternative comparison: Pack descriptions (carton concentrate vs. dissolvable tablets) are compared directly with a structured follow-up exploring reasons for preference.
